Introducing Sphoxie

Sphoxie

I would like to introduce my new project "Sphoxie"! It's another game for the iOS and I'm still using the Unreal Development kit.

I will start releasing videos when it's almost complete but there is still a lot to do;

Sphoxie Level 01
-In game UI
-Button Graphics
-Level selection menu
-Bad guys and bosses
-Physical objects
-GameCenter & iCloud
-Last visual layer
-Bonuses
-Powerups because every one loves powerups!

And much more.

Sphoxie level 5

Right now I have the main game objective system complete (Collect the 4 yellow cubes and head to the exit). Now I'm working on the Race mode which is more of a time trial.

I'm more excited about the stuff behind the scenes. I managed to get the level loading/restarting in kismet to be one nice elegant line of nodes. Before for Bizango Blast it worked well but was not as simple and nice.

Sphoxie Mountain

Also making a controllable ball that also reacts to physics is as simple as you'd think in the UDK.

I'll update as I go along!

Bizango Blast!

So I finally have a video to show what I have been working on. It's a physics puzzle game in 3D. I'll just let the video speak for it's self.

It's looking like a game
Olivier Archer / Tuesday, 05 April 2011 14:28

We'll I've been hard at work with the UDK learning and using Kismet. I love their visual scripting system because it seems like such a natural way of doing it. I'm happy because I've managed to figure out how to do everything I want to so far and I'm glad with my pace as well. Also if teachers had said Algebra was used in making games I'm sure a lot of young boys would pay a lot more attention in class.

I'm in the asset creation part of the process so expect to see some pictures soon!

The UDK
Olivier Archer / Tuesday, 08 February 2011 12:30
It's been a while since I have post in the blog but a few crazy things have happened. I'll write about the scary one another time but today I want to talk about making a game!

It's something I've always been interested in and with the way the UDK is set up and it's licencing systems it's impossible not to try. I'm aiming to make a small but pretty iphone game. I'll release it on the app store in hopes of making some money!

I'm not going to reveal too much about it but I'll leave you with some works in progress. The Main Character in blue, the Antagonist in Green, The Ball space ship and the tutorial level. It's early now but I felt like showing something.
